Vaz expressed his excitement to see what the future holds for Swiggy and its customers.
In his Twitter post, Vaz thanked his team members for their support during his time at Swiggy. He specifically acknowledged Swiggy's co-founder and CEO, Sriharsha Majety, for being an exceptional leader and manager. Vaz expressed his appreciation for the trust and autonomy given to him by Majety, which enabled him to achieve his accomplishments at Swiggy.
Dale Vaz also highlighted some of Swiggy's achievements during his tenure. He mentioned the company's EBITDA profitability in the food sector and the successful development of Instamart, a billion-dollar business that was built from scratch. Vaz emphasized Swiggy's accomplishment in building a hyperlocal multi-category platform that supports various businesses such as food, grocery, genie, minis, dineout, meat, and alcohol, all on the same technological platform. He also revealed that Swiggy had deployed over 140 AI models to transform into an AI-first company.
Vaz expressed his gratitude to the thousands of dedicated Swiggy employees, whom he referred to as "Swiggsters," for shaping the company into what it is today. He described his experience at Swiggy as a privilege and being part of an exciting journey.
According to Vaz's LinkedIn profile, he joined Swiggy in July 2018 as the head of engineering and data science and was later promoted to the role of Chief Technology Officer. The position of CTO will now be taken over by Madhusudhan Rao, a long-time member of the Swiggy team.
Meanwhile, Dale Vaz is embarking on a new venture to build his own wealth-tech startup. He has already secured $7-10 million in funding from Accel and Elevation Capital for his upcoming project.
